I’d like to start off by saying that I think that the original classic Bowen is a beautiful and elegantly simple therapy that simply works. However, I have found that this style of Bowen is not necessarily the best fit for every client and/or condition that walks through the door. This is why I appreciate the efforts of Dr. Manon Bolliger and Bowen College to help widen the horizons by introducing practitioners to other Bowen based modalities and strategies. In some respects these modalities may seem to compete with each other but in reality, I think, that the inclusion of modalities such as NST, SmartBowen, Bowen Bridge etc. serve to enhance the practice of Bowen Therapy by giving the practitioner more options and a greater chance of a successful course of treatment in a timely and affordable manner. I thank Bowen College for keeping an open mind and allowing Bowen to grow and evolve!
For me, having advanced myself with the above mentioned modalities has taken my practice to another level . SmartBowen, in particular has been received with very positive feedback and results. As a matter of fact, I have a few clients that are coming back on a regular basis with no discernible issues other than life and daily stress, specifically requesting SmartBowen.
All in all, I am very glad to be associated with Bowen College.

For the last 10 years I’ve been successfully treating the patients at my naturopathic clinic with Bowen therapy. I use Bowen therapy with my patients at least 50% of the time and have found it to be 75-80% effective in creating a positive change in people’s lives. Once I took Ron Phelan’s course in Neurostructural Integration Technique (NST) it changed the way I practiced.
I learned so much more about the essence of Bowen and why we do some of the moves the way we do them. After taking Randy Barber’s course on Smart Bowen; again my technique changed. Smart Bowen gave me more tools that changed the way I look at patients and decide what moves to do. It made Bowen more practical in my mind and took out some of the guess work that I had in the past. In one visit with a patient I use all 3 techniques and it is working beautifully. I feel much more confident in what I’m doing and I haven’t even learned everything yet in any of these 3 versions inspired by Tom Bowen’s incredible work. There is so much more to Bowen then what we first learn in our initial courses. Once we open ourselves up to new ideas we can help so many more people and then the referrals come much faster and our practices flourish.
