When she was growing up, Connie’s family and friends said, “You should be a massage therapist. You give great massages and have a gifted touch.”
When Connie was in her early 20’s, her mother had a terrible fall, which broke her tailbone, messed up her back, and left her in constant pain. Connie went with her to all her chiropractic appointments, and while there showed the doctor muscle trigger points she had found helpful between treatments. He began to notice what he called an “uncanny and natural ability” to understand what the body wanted to heal itself. He suggested Connie attend massage school to develop this skill, so impressed that he personally paid for the schooling, and then hired her to work in his office. Connie is fascinated with how the body can respond and heal through touch, and the massage school techniques only increased her desire to learn more. She has continued to take classes throughout the years, on anything and everything that sounded of value to bodywork and the healing arts.
In 2001 Connie decided to once again devote a full year to study, and entered a new massage school. It was there she studied Bowen with Gene Dobkin. Finally she found the therapy that took her sessions to that next level – even quicker and more lasting results with less effort. Since 2003 Connie has been assisting Gene Dobkin in his Bowen classes.
People are continually amazed at the results from Connie’s massages, commenting on how different it is from any massage they’ve ever had before. First the clients, and then Bowen students have wanted to know more, and this became the beginning of Connie’s Bowen and Therapeutic Massage classes.
