SMART BOWEN® therapy is a skilful and advanced interpretation of the late Tom Bowen’s (1916 – 1982) intriguing healing work. SMART BOWEN® therapy when applied to people, horses, and other animals initiates the body’s natural healing responses, enabling many rapid positive responses to the treatment. SMART BOWEN® therapy is a soft tissue rolling, stretching and energy based technique that helps to overcome pain and physiological dysfunction by returning the body to a natural balance (homeostasis). The body’s response is often profound, usually within one or two treatments creating a sense of well being and restoration of energy.
Originally from Canada, Randy lived and worked in Australia most of his adult life until he and his wife moved to the UK in 2003.
Randy has trained in sports and remedial massage, tuina, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy. He holds a Diploma in Remedial Massage and has practitioner qualifications in Bowen Therapy from three internationally recognised schools.
Randy holds a post graduate qualification in vocational teaching and has run workshops in the treatment and prevention of common occupational soft tissue injuries. He has recently been appointed UK and European instructor for an Austalian Bowen Therapy Training academy and currently runs practitioner level for them. Undergraduate training is due to commence in 2010. SMART BOWEN® therapy’s director, Brian Smart has developed many new and dynamic Bowen style moves/procedures during his years in professional clinical practice since first leaning the technique in 1992. It is these extra remedial procedures that set SMART BOWEN® therapy apart from other interpretations of Tom Bowen’s work. Randy Barber has since trained under Brian Smart and brings to us a unique opportunity to learn these advanced techniques.
At Bowen College start with (#99) – Reboot Your Body Workshop this is the first course on the road to becoming a Practitioner as well as become more familiar with BowenFirst™Therapy.
This is the first course needed to become certified. This 2 day course allows the individual to experience Bowen as well as credits them towards our certification programs!
If you are a professional body worker or practitioner and have an extensive knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology you will be exempt from taking Level 100 BowenFirst™ Protocols. You will be fast tracked to graduation completion without needing to take the prerequisite graduate courses.
If you do not have a background in Anatomy and Physiology at a college Level and are new to the healthcare and bodywork field you start at the same 099 Reboot Your Body Workshop and complete your prerequisite training in your own time. When you are ready to move forward in your education you will take Level 100 BowenFirst™ Protocols 1 day course to refresh your knowledge on the Basic Protocols and continue to graduation taking Level 101 and 102.
