Program Overview
The Accredited Bowen Therapy courses available at Bowen College are self-paced learning programs that train you in the art and science of the BowenFirst™ Technique through online workshops, at-home study, videos, and in-person learning.
Our courses are the most comprehensive in-person, and online training available in North America and integrate all aspects of the body and mind for optimal health.
Studies include Nutrition, Functional Muscle Anatomy, Meridian Medicine, Anatomy & Physiology, BowenFirst™ Technique, and LISTEN Principles.
The courses available comprise theoretical and practical education including eCourses, hands-on training, preceptorship, and case studies.
Length: 3 Modules
Intakes: Year-Round
Format: Live online, eCourses, and In-Person
In-Person Training: Up To 144 hours
Total Training: A student could reasonably complete BowenFirst™ Technique training aspects (Modules 1 through 3) within 9 months to 1 year (depending on their commitment to the program, their schedule, and class scheduling)

Curriculum
The modules below provide you with Bowen Therapy training and can be purchased separately. Each module provides a full comprehensive learning experience for those wanting to train in Bowen Therapy while working towards certification. The course outline is designed to allow the student to work at their own pace with in-person training dates available throughout the year to accommodate student schedules.
Each module of the Accredited Bowen Therapy Education is aligned with the demands of busy individuals and passionate healing professionals and is formatted to allow you to focus more on what you do best…healing.
Below is a list of all courses that must be completed for a student to be eligible for graduation and registration as a Bowen Therapist. There are no course prerequisites for Module 1. CE Credits are available for hands-on training (See course notes). Contact your designated governing body to see if the designated course is approved and for the exact CE credits available. Please see below for more information on which courses qualify.
Module 1: Introduction to Bowen Therapy: Audit & Alignment
This module encompasses various elements: conducting a self-assessment to gauge your current status, cultivating a health-oriented mindset to impart to your clients, fostering autonomy and self-responsibility, initiating the initial phases of the healing journey, alleviating chronic stress and its consequent adverse impacts, managing pain in a natural and efficient manner, acquiring the skills essential for integrating body and mind, and engaging in practical training sessions centred on the BowenFirst™ Technique.

Module 2: Healing Fundamentals
Module 2 delves into “Understanding Healing Basics,” offering an in-depth exploration of the scientific principles that form the foundation of the BowenFirst™ Technique. Participants will gain insights into the gentle, minimalist, and non-invasive nature of this approach, emphasizing the crucial role of fascia and the importance of providing the body with ample space for recovery. The module also includes practical hands-on training of the BowenFirst™ Technique, along with an exploration of the interconnectedness between mind and body concerning well-being, functional muscle structure, and the nutritional considerations associated with Bowen Therapy.

This module focuses on equipping students for certification by engaging them in case studies to apply the BowenFirst™ Technique hands-on. Participants will delve into topics covering anatomy and physiology, meridian medicine, and techniques to encourage patient commitment to their well-being. The module encompasses both in-person instruction and a conclusive examination.

Post-Graduation
Graduates from Accredited Bowen Therapy Education courses undergo the most comprehensive training worldwide, offering a deeper, holistic, and supportive approach that allows for quicker progress compared to other programs in the field. With a minimum of 144 hours of in-person training and specialized education in the mind-body connection to health, practice management, and business development, graduates are well-prepared to excel as Bowen Therapists and clinic proprietors. Moreover, Bowen College boasts the highest rate of graduates transitioning into successful practicing Bowen Therapists after graduation.
Program Accreditation
Bowen College is the only North American training school for Bowen Therapy with independent certification by the Canadian Examining Board of Healthcare Practitioners and the Bowen Therapists Professional Association (BTPA).
All of our courses are approved for the Canadian Examining Board of Health Care Practitioners (CEBHCP) for continuing education credits. Our hands-on training is also approved by the CMTBC, CMTNL, and CONO.
Licensing Requirements
Practitioner licensing requirements vary based on the region of governance. Currently, there are no government restrictions on the practice of Bowen Therapy in Canada. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria in their chosen region.
Admissions
Our student services and admissions departments are entrusted with a diverse set of duties that cover the student’s entire journey from initial inquiry to ongoing administrative support. Our team of skilled professionals are here to assist you with your application, enrolment, re-enrolment, fees, finding accommodation bookings (for in-person training), and any queries you may have throughout your academic journey.
There are no prerequisites to join, and we prioritize applicants showing great potential for success and a passion for healing.
We offer continuous study programs year-round: Fall (September – December), Winter (January – April), and Summer (May – August). While there is no fixed application deadline, we accept students based on available space in the in-person program. As these programs fill up quickly, we recommend applying early to secure your place.
Transferring to Bowen College
At Bowen College Inc., we offer a seamless transfer process for Bowen practitioners from around the world to ensure that practitioners meet our certification standards and represent our governing boards with distinction. To help you meet the requirements and transfer with ease we have tailored the transfer process to accommodate you.
We honour all completed equivalent Bowen Therapy training you might have with another institution, please contact us at [email protected] to apply training credit to the certification program at the time of registration.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition is charged per module. The college provides guidance on the order in which courses should be completed within each module, but students can choose their own speed and timetable. All fees are listed in Canadian dollars. Payment for each module must be made before accessing the eCourses in that module.
To help you manage your education expenses, payment plans are offered. The prices displayed are applicable only when purchasing full modules and do not include payment plan rates.

Professional Letter of Recommendation |
A professional letter of recommendation should come from an individual with professional standing who is not a friend or relative of the graduating student/practitioner. This could be your doctor, dentist, former instructor, mentor, or employer. |

CPR C (Renewed every two years) |
CPR C encompasses CPR and choking techniques for adults, children, and infants, along with two-rescuer CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training. The techniques are easy to grasp, having been refined over time to aid in easier retention of essential skills during a cardiac arrest. |

Final Physical & Final Online Practical Exam |
Upon finishing the required online courses, case studies, practical hours, and preceptorship, you will receive your Certificate from Bowen College. This certification enables you to apply for the Certified Bowen Health Therapist (CBHT) designation through the Canadian Examining Board for Health Care Practitioners (CEBHCP) after successfully completing the exam. If you are not pursuing the CBHT designation, the certificate from Bowen College allows you to integrate the skills into your practice using the BowenFirst™ Therapy approach. You have the option to upgrade to the CBHT designation later by fulfilling the remaining CRBHCP approval requirements. |

For every student, the journey is personal and we encourage all prospective students to talk with a member of our team or registrar to discuss a realistic view of completion and the time you have for study and availability to travel for the practical training portion. In the United States, our programs and courses are recognized by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) for continuing education. You will need to check with individual boards not listed here to be sure you are approved for credit.
